Today’s Photo Of The Day is “Sand Dunes Black and White 2015” by Jeff Sullivan. Location: Death Valley National Park.
“It’s amazing to me how sharp and clean the transition can be from the dunes to the surrounding mountains!” says Sullivan. “It seems so unlikely—the total lack of sand in the hills, the steepness of the slope above them and the bushes disappearing into the dune all imply that the dune is very slowly engulfing the adjacent hill, one tiny avalanche of sand at a time.”
