Today’s Photo Of The Day is “Rocks and Salt” by Jeff Sullivan. Location: South Tufa State Natural Reserve, California.
“Salty bushes and tufa after sunset,” describes Sullivan. “Mono Lake is known for its tufa calcium carbonate rock formations that form underwater where springs bring calcium-rich water to the alkaline lake. In the fall, the winds are less at Mono Lake, so sunsets tend to get calm. The alkaline waters of the lake are nearly three times saltier than the ocean.
“I had a nice single exposure result, but for a little extra color depth and contrast I adjusted three exposures in Adobe Lightroom then processed them in Photomatix HDR before adjusting the 16-bit TIFF result in Lightroom.”
Photo of the Day is chosen from various OP galleries, including Assignments, Galleries and the OP Contests. Assignments have weekly winners that are featured on the OP website homepage, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. To get your photos in the running, all you have to do is submit them.
