The Natural History Museum has announced the winners of the Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2022 competition with photographer Karine Aigner taking home the Grand Title award with an image of a ball of cactus bees taken in Texas.

“Wings-whirring, incoming males home in on the ball of buzzing bees that is rolling straight into the picture,” says chair of the jury, writer and editor, Rosamund ‘Roz’ Kidman Cox OBE. “The sense of movement and intensity is shown at bee-level magnification and transforms what are little cactus bees into big competitors for a single female.”

See a selection of the winners in the gallery below. The complete list of winners can be seen here.

Wildlife Photographer of the Year is developed and produced by the Natural History Museum, London. The 59th Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition will be open for entries from October 17 to December 8, 2022.
