Today’s Photo Of The Day is “Guffey Falls” by Christoph Stopka. Location: Guffey Falls, Colorado.
“Guffey Falls in Central Colorado is a very unusual place,” explains Stopka. “To get there you have to hike through a picturesque alpine valley with green meadows full of wildflowers—but suddenly you enter a completely different world: Massive sandstone formations rise seemingly out of nowhere and a creek plunges into a wide-open natural pool. And the only color all around you is orange. Actually, all shades and variations of orange. Naturally, the beautiful little waterfall becomes the focal point in this serene setting, which—frankly—resembles more a desert oasis than a high altitude mountain location.”
