“The Alabama Hills of southern California offers a surreal landscape of contorted granite boulders lying in the shadow of some of the tallest peaks in the Sierra Nevada, including the tallest—Mount Whitney,” says Peoples. “On this particular morning, this surreal landscape was made even more surreal by lenticular clouds forming in the sky, illuminated by the rising sun.”
