“I had spent a few days working with this young family on the forested edge of Kurile Lake in Russia’s remote Kamchatka Peninsula,” recalls Andy Parkinson. “This young cub and his sibling would spend their days playing, climbing trees and generally doing all that they could to disturb their mother’s patient attempts at fishing. When something like this happens, it can feel quite overwhelming in the moment. Such is the joy and excitement that unexpected and comical interactions can elicit.”
